Post Job Queues Reply with quote

Why do Synchronous Jobs lock up the GUI interface when running them in Job Queues (v3.0.1). I understood that Job Queues were introduced to stop this happening and allow long running jobs to be run in the more stable Synchronous mode without interfering with other activities.

I am reluctant to run jobs in Synchronous mode if it means I cannot use the GUI.

Thanks
Greig

This may happen only if you start the job manually using "Run Now". For details, please see "Job Processing Flow" topic in the help.

Also, if a job is very CPU intensive it can create an impression of the GUI lock up, but it indeed it is just the CPU sharing problem. If this is the case, change job priority to "Low". That should help.

Note that function of the "Run Now" is not for submitting job to the queue, but for testing it. This run mode is quite different from the regular job run mode.
