SQL Editor:Auto connect is worng |
|
Hi,
The Connect dialog that opens when you click the Connect icon in the SQL Editor contains an “Auto connect” button.
Even if you check this box, the setting will not be applied the next time you launch the application.
I have confirmed that although the SQL Assistant Code Editor is listed under [targets.22] in the SQLAssist.sas file, the autoConn setting has not been updated.
As a workaround, I edit the file directly in the editor to set autoConn=xxxx.
I would appreciate it if the checkbox selection could be applied automatically.

The Auto-connect attribute isn't for SQL Assistant Code Editor. This attribute is used by add-ons when SQL Assistant is used as an add-on for other applications, and its database connection is independent of the connection established by the host application (they cannot share a database connection). That's to avoid repetitive connection prompts.
Any application can be used to manage connections using the Connection dialog.
As for SQL Assistant Code Editor (I assume you are referring to the Professional Edition version), if you allow it to restore previously opened tabs on startup, which is the default behavior, you won't see connection prompts, it will auto-connect all of them automatically, so that's a mute point. Please verify you have the Document Manager feature enabled for SQL Assistant Code Editor in the Options, Active should be set to Yes.

That's right. I didn't explain it well enough.
What I wanted to convey was how it works when opening a new SQL tab. If “Auto connect” is checked, you won't have to specify the connection every time you open a new tab with Ctrl+N.
When you're working intensively on a single connection, you might use Ctrl+N to create SQL windows one after another. I think this feature is very convenient in those situations.

I understand better now. That's not supported in the current version of the SQL Assistant Code Editor. I'm not saying it cannot be.
