[12.4.476 Pro] - Closing many result sets takes a long time |
|
When there are many result sets in the results tab closing them all at once takes a very long time and drastically increases with the number of result sets. I recall this to be fast in earlier versions.
Check out this short video here.

Is the timing related to the amount of data pulled into the tabs? Could you please check in the Task Manager how the CPU and memory look like when it takes long to close tabs? Is memory usage very high? Disk activity visible? (could be caused by virtual memory swapping)

I tried to record what happened. Check out this short video >>>here<<<.
I don't see anything that should cause this long "timeout". Though CPU usage goes up a bit, that's because of another process that starts using the CPU before even SE starts closing the result sets. Nothing indicates significant pressure on resources (CPU, RAM, IO, etc.). Regardless, SQL Editor goes into "Not responding status" about 5 seconds after clicking the Close All and does not regain consciousness until closing all the result sets.

Is it also taking long when you close the editor tab they are attached to?

Yes, I'd say it takes just as long to close the tab as it takes to close only the result sets.

Can you please try temporarily turning off The Document Manager option in Targets -> SQL Assistant Code Editor -> Document Manager -> Active. Does that make much of a difference on closing tabs?
If it does help, can you then try to reactivate it, but this time turn off Save Tools option only in the same section? Does that make any difference?

I've tried both the Document Manager inactive and it being active but with Save Tools set to off. The difference, if any, is negligible.
