Is it possible to set up Excel as a sql source for S.A.? |
|
Hi,
I'm trying to add Excel in Db Options, but it's not in the DB Type list.
Is there a way to use Sql Assistant to run queries off of an Excel table?

Yet, I think you can do that, although I haven't specifically tested what I'm going to suggest. You can create an empty Microsoft Access database or use any existing and in Access you can link Excel files as external tables. And that you can connect to your Access database from SQL Assistant SQL Editor and query these tables pretty much like all other Access tables using using SQL dialect supported by Access.

Thanks, SysOp. We might reload the data (from a tab-delimited file) into Sqlite, and not use Excel after all. We would make that the default connection in Sql Assistant, temporarily.
