SA: 9.5.452 - Missing syntax hints |
|
Certain functions such as RIGHT and LEFT do not give the syntax hints once the open paren is typed. Other functions such as STUFF,RTRIM,LEN,etc do.
I've checked the custom assistance and I can see they are listed in there for my target (SQL SERVER).
Also oddly, the keyword/function LEFT shows blue, while RIGHT shows purple in SQL Editor. Not sure if that's a hint as to what's happening?

I didn't go through every function/keyword but those two popped up when writing a query today.
Also if I invoke the popup after typing LEFT and check box the parameters in the popup (it shows here, but not when typing the open paren) it drops a weird syntax in. It does this for ANYTHING in SQL Assistant that's a keyword/function for this particular syntax snafu.

Thank you very much for providing very detailed description and demonstration of the issues. They have been confirmed as bugs in T-SQL syntax highlighting/parser in the SQL Assistant editor. A fix is expected in the next SQL Assistant version.
