Post Sql Editor - allow word-selection by dbl-click and drag Reply with quote
Many editors have it. You simply double-click a word- word is selected (it's done). You double-click a word and DON'T release mouse button and drag -- text is seledted by words (when you drag). For ex, Firefox supports it in this forum.

Feature req--> make this feature when after dbl-click I can drag text and select text by words.

It appears this is already supported by SQL Assistant Code Editor. You can use drag & drop with highlighted text to move it around. As for double-click to highlight a word - this is supported by all editors including SQL Assistant Code Editor.

If you are use code editor that doesn't support the above features, please use a different editor.

No, it seems not supported in Sql Editor 7.0. Reread my post. I wrote NOT about simple double click. nor about simple drag drop of text.

If you're going to implement this feature, make it optional, please. It will interfere with the feature of being able to double click-hold a word and select text using that word as an anchor (start/end of the text to be selected). This comes very handy because I don't have to carefully micro-navigate the cursor to the beginning/end of a word in the text I want to select, which is often an annoying nuisance where it isn't supported.

When I double click a word and drag I get selection by words with SQL Assistant 7 and SSMS but not SA's provided SQL Editor. If that's what you're getting at.

Okay, after reading what SysOp wrote I've misunderstood what Alex said. Selection in SQL Editor really does not work this way. I support the idea.

I got confused too, because this is not a drag and drop operation. It's called extended selection by words. Similar effect can be achieved using Ctrl+Shift+Arrow Right/Left/home/End keys.

I updated the ticket with new description for the requested enchantment.

Yes, but if you check the original post, he did not mention 'drop' anywhere in it. He only talked about the 'drag' feature.
