[7.0.141 beta] Another funny glitch/feature in SQL Editor |
|
I accidentally discovered a funny glitch in SQL Editor. Moving the mouse to the edge of the tab and the ruler it changes to a horizontal split cursor. Dragging that down splits the editor screen horizontally with both part still referring to the same editor contents with the lower one having the ownership of the Database Explorer. My cursory scan of the User Guide revealed nothing of this "feature". Is this intentional or a side-effect of something?

Thank you. I have logged this issue. I didn't know there is horizontal split feature hidden. I am going to ask how it's supposed to be used

It turned out to be a feature. The top part of the split screen allows making synchronous code changes using an off-line editor not connected to the database and not triggering syntax checks popups and other on-line mode tools. This supposedly males working with large files and scripts easier and faster.

Thanks for the hint. I thought it could be something like that since the top one did not have the same context menu items as the bottom one.
