SQL Assistant 6.5.278 and TOAD 11.6.0.43 crashes TOAD |
|
Hi!
I have SQL Assistant 6.5.278 on Windows 7 with TOAD 11.6.0.43. This combination fails when SQL Assistant tries to connect to a database. The SA connect login in pops up. I fill in the information and click to connect and TOAD disappears from the screen! SA appears to keep running. Are there any log files, etc that I can include to help you diagnose this issue?
Thanks for any suggestions, idea, hints, tricks, tips for solving this problem!

Here is what I found out.
Toad 11.x and later uses third-party library called Eureka Log, version 7. That library has a bug causing it to crash during processing of certain types of handled exceptions. Here is a quote from one of our internal technical documents: "This library incorrectly hooks exceptions." Immediately after establishing a connection, SQL Assistant performs database type and version validation which triggers a valid and expected internal exception which is handled properly in all targets, but Toad versions using Eureka Log library.
If you downgrade Toad to version 11.5, the connection will work correctly and it won't crash.
