No longer able to connect to database |
|
v6.4.230 with SQL Server 2012 SSMS
Has been working fine but has stopped working today in that it is not connecting to the database. I select Connect but nothing happens. I have unregistered and re-registered. Anything else I can try?

If you are using SQL Assistant with SSMS, nothing should happen visually when you click Connect. In a shared connection environment, the connection is owned by the host editor, this command simply attempts to repair the existing connection after it gets closed after long idle time.
Have you tried to restart your computer?

Ah, I see. Yes, I've tried a reboot also without any luck. It's also not working in VS 2012 either. Any sort of logging that I can switch on?

Yes,. you can start it with diagnostic logging enabled. close all editors, close SQL Assistant. Start SQL Assistant from command line as
SQLAssist /SA:TraceLevel:9
This will make it output diagnostic data to SQLAssist.log file in %APPDATA%\SQL Assistant\6.4 folder.
But before you try that, try something else. Start your SSMS or VS 2012 in Run as Administrator mode and see if that does the trick.

Apologies but I missed your previous post so I didn't get a chance to try your suggestions. I have reinstalled however and that seems to have worked. Thanks for your help.
