Right now it is just an idea/frustration. In the where clause, I say column = 1<enter>, results in column = log10. Why does it do that, because the intellisense sees 1 as part of the name of a command.

Some ideas:
if the column is numeric/bit then don't provide a popup for numbers.
don't do partial name or middle of name matches on commands or built-in functions

Maybe someone else has a better implementation idea.

I'm unable to reproduce that. Do you have log10 in the history part of the intellisense dialog when you type "column = 1" ?

No history is turned off. But I do have commands.

I'm able to reproduce it, and no, it's not a history item, log10 is a built-in function in MSSQL. I support the idea that expressions starting with number should be left alone.
