Post SSMS 10 vs SSMS 10.5 object tree right click differences? Reply with quote
I'm testing S.A on two different machines, one has SSMS 2008..

One has SSMS 2008 R2.

In R2 I don't get the right click SQL Assistant context menu in the object tree. I get it in the editor pane and of course have the menu drop down.

I've unregistered/re-registered the SSMS plugin via S.A. I've reinstalled S.A as well. Environment integration is set to "Full" on both instances.

Is this due to a difference in SSMS versions?

Probably. Though I'm not using the tree very frequently (about a dozen times in the last three years :) I experienced the same.

SA ships with a bunch of different plugins for the Object Explorer. Different plugins are used with different SSMS versions and editions. It looks like yours is not one of them and that's why there is no integration with the Object Explorer in your version.

Could you please email your exact SSMS2008 version number to support AT softwaretech.com and attach a copy of the ObjectExplorer.dll from your SSMS 2008 install?

It turned out some .NET assemblies have been changed in Service Pack 2 for SSMS 2008 R2 and they are incompatible with the Object Explorer addon we developed for SSMS 2008 R2, which is working well with RTR and SP1 releases. We would need to build another version of SQL Assistant addon to support SSMS 2008 R2

Thanks. Is there a plan to do this at some point?
