In terms of the editor working, VS 2010 has completely broke the backward compatibility with previous VS versions. The new VS IDE is based on WPF, the internal working of the IDE is quite different from previous versions, editor windows are not standalone windows anymore, but some painted boxes within the IDE main frame, they don't behave like windows anymore, don't have own event queues and windows messages. We are still developing brand new add-on for VS 2010. In the latest version we are already provide support for T-SQL editor from the Tools menu, build 5.0.97 and later. Developing support for all types of code editors within VS 2010 may take a while, which is delaying 5.1 release.

Hi,
That's correct and by design. SQL Assistant is a database development tool. We do support only SQL Code editor and T-SQL editors in VS 2010 IDE. This is done on purpose, to avoid issues with SQL Assistant popups appearing in all other types of files where they are not required. Please ensure SQL Assistant add-on for VS 2010 has been installed and properly registered.

Maybe we are talking about different things.
Please describe steps you take to open code editor in VS 2005/2008 and VS2010 for editing code of database objects (in-line code) and steps for editing SQL files (off-line code)
Thanks
