remote connect between Windows and Muti-platform |
|
We are currently using the windows version of the the scheduler and just purchased a site lisc. for the multi-plateform version. We need to port over our old jobs but are unable to establish a remote connect between the old version and the new versions of the application. I can connect on the same server beteen 2 windows versions so my connection settings are correct. Is there some difference in the connection process?
I have the migration doc and have follwed with no sucess.

1. You need to connect from MP Edition to Windows Edition.
2. To make the connection, you need to setup new agent profile in MP Edition.
3. For the agent type select in the type drop-down "24x7 Scheduler/Agent Windows Edition" . Save agent profile.
After that you can use Tools/Import Jobs from Remote 24x7 Scheduler menu to import jobs from Window Edition, when prompted for the target, select the agent you created in the previous steps.
Please let us know if the above doesn't work for you..

I've done all that and I get cannot connect to server message, however I am using the same settinging in the old version from the same server and they work. There mist be some difference in the settings.
Old server is running as a master scheduler.

Please executing the following command from the new server/version, from command prompt
telnet your_old_server_name_or_ip_here 1096
Do you get cannot connect message, or the telnet console screen goes blank?

What I discovered from testing is that, for me anyway, the TEST CONNECT... button doesn't work with a windows server/agent but when I go into the menu: tools > Import Jobs From Remote 24x7 Scheduler that works fine and it actually does connect to the windows server/agent.
It may be an issue with the AgentTest functionality.

I can not get a telnet connection. But that doesn't explain why I can connect from windows edition to windows edition between the 2 servers. If can connect between the 2 windows versions the same parameters should work with multiplatform to windows connections.
I also tried the method suggested by the user below your post. that didn't work either.
Any suggestions?

This is correct in case you choose proper agent type in the connection profile. In case you leave the default value, it will attempt to connect to MP type agent, which won't work. Do you choose windows agent type in the profile, or leave the default?

In addition, please check the schedule.log file of the Windows scheduler for messages like connection refused, invalid license key, etc... If you find any, please let us know what the messages say.
