Post How does the Web run jobs? Reply with quote
We have an application that runs on GUI but has access denied on the Web. The question is, how does the Web run the jobs? Our Web Server is on a seperate box from the Application. Do we need to load drivers and such on the Web Server?

Hi,

It is very difficult to understand your message. What do you mean by GUI? Let me guess. 24x7 Event Server. No? 24x7 Macro-recorder. No? 24x7 Scheduler multi-platform? should I continue?
What's Web? web console? ASP or JSP or something else?

"has access denied on the Web" - What's that? Can you provide the complete error message and describe the steps leading to that error?

I'm happy to help, but I need to understand the issue.

Regards,
SysOp

Sorry about that. I was assuming there was a generic answer.

We have Java Web Server 4.3 and Windows Application Server 3.6. The Web Server and the application server are on two different boxes.

The general question is, besides the Web Application and Apache/Tomcat - should anything else be loaded on the Web Server to make things run properly? For example, the application we are trying to run uses SQL 2000 drivers. The SQL 2000 drivers are loaded on the Application Server but not on the Web Server. Should the drivers be loaded on the Web Server? We didn't know if, when run, the application was loaded into memory on the Web Server - or - if all processing occurs on the application server.

I'm sorry, which application are you talking about? What does it have to do with 24x7 product line?

Any application. How does the Web portion run? Do you need database drivers loaded on the Web server for a database application to run?

I'm sorry; I won't be able to help you with general questions. This support board is dedicated to supporting products named in the support board title "24x7 Scheduler, 24x7 Event Server, 24x7 Automation Suite" and their utilities.

Darling, I am talking about your applications.

On your Web Application version 4.3 build 282, if it is on a seperate server, do you need to load any SQL drivers on the Web Server to invoke a SQL Application that is located on 24x7 Windows application 3.6 server?

Thanks for the answer about product names and versions. That's what I was trying to find out from very beginning.

The 24x7 web console is just a remote web-based console for the 24x7 Scheduler. It doesn't run any jobs. Therefore, no SQL drivers are required on the web site (unless the web-console and the scheduler are installed on the same system).

If now you can answer my second question about specific error message and steps leading to that error, I can help you with that too. :)

The Web app has error I/O error : file 'INFOXDTL'

When your run thru the 24x7 Scheduler, you get a Delayed Write error.

That error is coming from the launched application. How is this application launched? Batch file, script, something else? What type of application is that?
Do you run the scheduler as a Windows service or as an interactive server with an icon in the Windows system tray?
