Remote Job does not open program window |
|
Hi,
I made a test running remotely a job such a notepad.exe.
The notepad opens on the remote machine but the window is not fully shown.
Is there a switch to allow interactive jobs on remote agents?
Thanks

Are you starting it as a different user? "Run As User" facility is basically for batch type jobs only. Try running your remote job without entering specific user credential, so that the remote scheduler (or agent) can start it on the same desktop using the same user account.
You can also try using BindDesktop utility http://www.softtreetech.com/24x7/archive/43.htm
BindDesktop winsta0\default notepad.exe

Hi,
thanks for the reply.
If I uncheck the user, the target change to local and cannot be changed (is that the RunAs option?).
Thanks

Please tell me about your environment so I can better understand which options are available.
Which 24x7 type and version? Which Windows version? Do you submit the remote job from a Windows system to a Windows system or from non-Windows system?

More info |

Hi,
Master is on Linux, the agent is on windows XP and Windows 2003.
The agent on XP is not working for the #1314 error, the agent on windows 2003 is working but this behaviour (which is not actually a problem, but in a test drive is a good idea to get a solution, or explaination).
Thanks

AFAIK, the #1314 error indicates insufficient permissions. Please check that the user running the agent is part of admin group and has explicitly granted "Act as part of the operation system" privilege. The user used for the job (notepad.exe) has been explicitly given "Logon as a batch job" privilege. And also has Create and Adjust Process Tokens privileges. If a change in permissions has been made recently, please make sure you restarted the system, Windows caches system privileges and changes are not effective until the system is restarted.
By the way, are you are aware that Run As user in batch jobs is supposed to be used for batch jobs?
Try using the BindDesktop utility I suggested earlier to start the process interactively.

Hi,
Yes I know that.
I was simply testing the product to understand feature boundaries.
I will check the utility to complete this step.
Thanks
