Post Job Database Security - user-level Standard Users ? Reply with quote
Hi,
I have installed the ASP web-based console on WIN server 2003 R2 on IIS

the scheduler is Version 3.5.2 (Windows) and I am waiting for the correct Serial Number as a wrong one was sent to me ...
so in the meantime I am running in 30-day trial mode

I have got all up & running and I can connect perfectly using the browser to the server ...BUT

I meant to start creating user-level profile in order to have some users to loog at the logs but
IF a create a user as "Standard Users", I can't see anything about any job (the folder with the jobs in the left end side are NOT expandable with the + 'sing')

I have also try to test enabling all the check-box as in the Admins profile, but it does not seem to be working.
If I use Admins users it's all right but can;t exclude any check-box

any idea ?

I need a standard user to see the single job log and, ti be able to run a job

let me know

Hi,

In web console standard users can see only their own jobs, jobs they created. It is like a virtual scheduling system for each user. Administrators can see and modify any job.

Which check box are you referring to?

Tools - Security - Job Database Users and Permissions... - Permissions

this is a table of Permission split into 4 columns: Admins - Standard Users - Restricted Users - Guests

every row has got a specific permission to be granted ticking a tickbox in the appropriate column.

Admins have got them all ticked and greyed out ...
Standard Users - Restricted Users - Guests can be ticked and unticked ...

the aim is here to have a user using the web console, to be able to see the log and re-run a job but with NO permission to change / deleted / etc ..

can it be done?

...and tested that if I I untick the "Enable user-level security in this job database" will work with no restriction to any usergroups

I see what you want. I I get it correctly you want to have a group of users who can view logs, monitor jobs and if necessary control the processing, but who cannot make changes in the job design or delete jobs. This is pretty standard requirement for operational staff - Operators.

You have two options:
1. Use 24x7 JSP-based web console - this version by default treats Standard Users from 24x7 Windows Edition same way it treats Operators from 24x7 MP Edition
2. Tweak code of 24x7 ASP-based web console (see 24x7lib.asp file) to allow standard Users access logs and monitors, basically treat them as operators. In this case, please contact support for specific instructions on making this functional change.
