Remote control and creating new job from another |
|
Hi
When I use 24x7 windows ver remote console I can't 'copy properties of an existing job' when I create a new job as the job list which comes up shows the folders but will not show the jobs within the folders. I can click on the pluses and nothing happens, I can click on the folder names and the icon changes to open but still no jobs.
Also when I use the local console on the server to create new jobs in the same way ('copy properties of an existing job'), I get intermittant issues;
a) crashes to desktop with a PBVM70.DLL error in the event log
b) Long waits for the job list to come up; 10-20 seconds
c) the job list window going to the background and not being able to retrieve it; I have to close the instance of the console from the system tray icon to get out.

Here is what I found out. In remote control mode it attempts to filter the job list and show only jobs created by user whose id is the same as the 24x7 user connected via the remote connection. This only works when users defined in 24x7 security settings have names matching their network names in domain\user format or .\user for local users. This behavior is incorrect, because administrators should be able to copy any job and for them the job list should not be filtered. However this is only one part of the problem. The other part is that if there are no jobs at all with matching user names, the "Browse for Job" dialog crashes and bringing down the entire remote control. We have a test case already registered in the support database for this issue and a fix is expected sometime soon.
