Again SQL Server 2008 problem |
|
With the release of SQL Server 2008 I've tried to use it with SQL Assistant but I can't connect it.
I've tried also to connect with Sql Management Studio 2008 to an Sql Server 2005 database but still can't connect.
With SQL Server 2008 Beta 2 worked but with final version doesn't.
Any ideas ?
Sorin

I'm not sure what Microsoft changed/broke in the latest release. 3.5.30 was/is compatible with all previous SQL 2008 release candidates. So I guess a new compatibility update is needed again for supporting SQL 2008 in order to catch up with latest Microsoft changes.
By the way, the "final" release that you have mentioned was actually released to manufacturing on Aug. 6, which is less than a week ago and the on-line download is available only for a few days.. :)
I would expect that it is going to take several weeks before a compatibility patch become ready. On the other had, I don't know if there will be any new updates released for version 3. We are currently actively working on a new major version.

Hi
Here are some screenshots
If you have a beta (build) of this new release I'll be happy to test it.
I was testing all versions of this product and I want to try to make it better (especialy on 2008 and Vista).
Thank's

Thanks for the info.
A beta version is not yet available at this time. We will post an announcement on this board as soon we reach that milestone.

We have tried the latest SSMS release 10.0.1600.22 that comes with the latest build of SQL 2008 and so far we are unable to reproduce this issue. Could you please explain again what is wrong? Can you connect to SQL 2008 using Notepad and SQL Assistant configured to use ADO.NET connection type with Notepad? Is there a problem with SQL Assistant silently intercepting and sharing connections in SSMS 2008? The screenshot shows something really weird in the Server name property, displayed as SQLQuery1. Is that a shared connection or something you entered manually?

Can you connect with Notepad?
Please don't consider the above question stupid. We need to figure out whether the problem is caused by SSMS not providing a valid connection pointer or by the connectivity itself.
Secondary, which connection type is currently selected in the settings? ADO.NET or ODBC?
