Post Remote Control Problems Reply with quote

I am trying to use remote control to manage 24x7 on another server.
Using the recommendations in other messages with a similar subject,
I've configured the remote agent with a domain account, configured the
network tab to check the Distributed Server mode enabled box, driver = WinSock
Port 1096. The workstation running remote control also uses port 1096 in
the Agent Profile Setup screen.

When connecting, it seems that the connection is established fine. I can
view the log but the only buttons highlighted are Log, Monitor, and Help.

I cannot see the jobs in the job database so cannot initiate jobs or add
additional jobs to the job database.

I'm probably missing something obvious but have been working on this for
several weeks.

Any assistance would be appreciated.

Please let me know if additional information is required.

Thank you in advance for your assistance.

Don't run it in an agent mode, run it as a scheduler.

To understand the difference between a scheduler and an agent please read in the on-line help file or nin the manual the Overview topic in the Getting Started chapter and also About Remote Agents topic in the Remote Agents and Remote Jobs chapter.

I thought I tried that and could not get a connection from
the remote control workstation...but I tried it this time
and it worked fine...It could be that I didn't have the
"Distributed Server mode enabled" box checked...

Thanks for you quick response...I knew it was something
simple I didn't do...

Appreciate your help

One more question related to this...

If I make changes to the job database on the remote server
do I have to restart the service on that server for the changes
to take effect?

Thanks

If you make changes remotely using the 24x7 Remote Control then you do NOT need to restart the service. Just don’t forget to click the Save To Remote button.

In case if you make changes locally on the server using the GUI then you do need to restart the service if you want it to pickup your changes from updated files.
