Post Remote Control help Reply with quote

Please help me understand how to set up so that jobs can be ran with 24x7 Remote Control.

My 24x7 Scheduler is set to run as a service on server bigdog. The service is set to run under a local administrative ID, such as bigdogAdmin. I would like to sometimes manually run jobs, therefore the need to run 24x7 Remote Control locally on bigdog.

My settings are as follows:
Service
Run 24x7 as Windows NT service - checked
Service account: .\bigdogAdmin
Password: the password for bigdogAdmin
Service tart options:
Start automatically
Service Mode:
Normal

Network
Distributed Server Mode enabled - checked
Distributed Service Configuration:
Driver: WinSock
Port/Service: 1096
Location: LocalHost
Options: left blank

I cannot connect to the master scheduler from the remote control. Could you please help with the configuration.

Thanks.

Local admin will not work. You need an account that has network privileges, or the service must be started manually each time your computer starts (after manual logon)
Try domain admin account first and seeif that works for you.

Also please take a look at "Setting Remote Control connection (example)" http://www.softtreetech.com/24x7/archive/rcontrol.htm

Not sure I understand this. If 24x7 Master Scheduler and 24x7 Remote Control is on the same server, why does a domain account have to be used?

Also, I have tried some configurations that show a successful connection, but then the message "Synchronization with remote 24x7 Scheduler failed! Remote control interface not available." What is the problem in this case?

They cannot be on the same server. It is not supported. The Remote Control is only for "remote" connections from remote computers. To run a job locally on the server you can use either 24x7 /JOB command (executed from DOS console or using a static shortcut) or you can use web-based 24x7 management console.

Also, for remote connections and the web console make sure the "server" mode is enabled in the scheduler settings (see Tools/Options menu; Network tab page)
