Post 14x7 es : Logs in a database Reply with quote

Hello,

with MS SQL server, only the details are stored in my database, not the headers.
And via ODBC, nothing is stored in a mysql database.

What's wrong ?
The databases are well created, with a little change for mysql.

It seems that whatever we set, 24x7es tries to log into SQL Server.
As the settings are to MySQL-ODBC, the report logs tries to connect to SQl Server.

I think you have incorectly defined the log database settings.

Take a look at the [Logging] section in the 24x7es.ini file. Correct the settings as needed and then restart the service.
Please note that if you have 24x7es_log.exe process running (look in the Task Manager Modules page) you will need to kill it manually.

Hello,
I have used the GUI to set the databases log.
So if the settings are wrong ....

And why only the details are stored in MSSQL ? The tables were created by 24x7es, not by me.

I don't understand your response.

The GUI, or I, seems having some problems :
- .ini file contains
DB Type=Other
DSN=24x7MySQL

- I modify the DB to MSSQL
- I save the file
- I restart the service

- and the .ini file is unchanged

It's very difficult to change anything : I don't want the purge, the .ini file reflected this choice, but each time I go in the GUI the box to purge is checked.

I believe the changes of database is made only when we push "create the tables", but, with mysql, if they allready exist they are erased and not rebuilt.

I cannot say much about MySQL becasue it is in "Other" section which means "will work if compatible, but no guarantee"
As for the MS SQL Server it should definitely work fine.

Here is what you can do to troubleshoot the issue with headers.
1. Manually edit 24x7es.ini file and in the first section [Globals] comment out
"on_event_action" line by inserting a semicolon symbol in front of the line
2. Save the changes and restart the service and let it find some events. If everything is fine you should see
some temporary files created in the Queue subfolder.
3. Open DOS console and navigate to the 24x7 Event Server home directory. From there run 24x7es_log.exe.

If you see any errors printed to the screen please let us know what you get.
