Post Job Logs from remote agent jobs ? Reply with quote

Hi,

24x7 architecture is - master scheduler on "server1" running as service
using defined admin account and configured with distributed server mode enabled.
"server2" has 24x7 remote agent installed running as service but without distributed server mode enabled.

I create jobs on console on "server1" and schedule them to run on "server2" default queue.

The problem I have is that I do not see any Job Log information on "server1" - what am I doing wrong ?and
how should things be configured to allow this centralised creation, scheduling and monitoring of the jobs - both local run and remote ?

Also once a job has been defined on "server1" what is the easy way
to reschedule a job for execution on another server and/or queue - say "server3"

In 24x7 agent the server part is activated automatically you don't need to check the "server mode" option.

What do you call a "console" - 24x7 Remote Control or the GUI started on the "server1" computer while the services is running?
How do you check the job log?

To change job queue or target server simply change job queue property or job agent/host property. After you save change the job will be assigned to specified queue and agent. Please note that queue and agent are not related properties and they can be set separately.

I mean the GUI and I have noticed that Ican actually view the job log -
it's just that I seem to have to exit the GUI and re-enter before the job log shows up.

Also as the GUI is a "second" instance of 24x7 I can't use the job/que monitors ?

Use the refresh button or View/Refresh menu to refresh the log. Without restarting the console.

That's right you can't use it for monitoring because it is not attached to the service. It is not a console to the service; in other words, it is just a standalone GUI.
For interactive job monitoring you can use either 24x7 Remote Control or 24x7 web-based interface. In remote console you can pending and running job. In the web-based interface you can monitor both pending and running jobs and also job queues.

You can also enable real-time HTML reports option to monitor job logs using just your web browser.
