Post Database Import Problem Reply with quote

I am trying to import a text file to an Oracle database table.
I am logged in as the owner of the table, and the ODBC connection
has been tested and confirmed. When I execute the 24x7 script,
I get the error message,Error #-9, importing file n:\path\importfile.txt.
The user canceled the import.

I have searched the help and the website, and can't find any clues.

Please help.

This error occurs usually when the file is not tab-separated or some values in it violate table definition (for example a date value is malformed and cannot be converted to a date or string value is larger then the column size)

Is this a tab-separated file?

Thank you for the response. Yes, it is tab-separated. I checked the column
sizes, and all were correct. I took out a date field, and
the process worked. I guess the dates were not formatted
for Oracle.

Thanks for your help.

Dates should be in the format specified in the computer's regional settings rather the default format of the target database. Some other global generic formats like yyyy-mm-dd usually work ok, regardless of the local regional settings
