Clarification on Mail delivery error message

I have a script which is running on a remote agent. The script appears to process fine and appears to properly send the notification via e-mail. But the log file shows a yellow explanation point with the error "Notification Action Failed: Mail Server error accepting message data" As stated earlier in this message I do receive the event notification. in my e-mail.

If I run the job on the main scheduling computer interactively I do not receive the error.

This is version 3.4.16

I've never seen such error before. Please verify you have correct email settings in the Tools/Options menu on the agent. Especially check email sender's address is not misspelled and refers to an existing account.

I have verified the smtp settings as suggested. I do receive the same message in the event log.
I receive the message independent of the smtp server (tried t2 different smtp servers.

This message goes away if I clear the check box for mail notification on “Job Start” and “Job Finish”; step 6 of 9 in the job wizard.

This still seems to be a problem with the SMTP server.

Is there some kind of spam protection on your server?
If you are sending several messages in short time try to pause between them for a few seconds.
