Post Automated Installs Reply with quote

Hi

Is there any way to call an install from the command line and not have the shortcut placed
in the Windows StartUp folder - I wish roll out Installs where the scheduler runs as a service, and get an annoying error
message when the instance in the StartUp folder trys to run.

TIA

Nick

Run the setup on a test machine with /SAVEINF option to record the install log file and then uncheck Windows StartUp option.

You can then use the recorded log for silent installations on other computers. For more details and descriptions of other supported options please see "Silent install" topic in the on-line help or see "Installation and Uninstallation" chapter in the User's Guide.

You can simply delete the shortcut from the menu. It is just a regular file.

On Win2000 and later this file name is
C:\Documents and Settings\All Users\Start Menu\Programs\Startup\24x7 Scheduler.lnk

On NT 4 it is
C:\WINNT\Profiles\All Users\Start Menu\Programs\Startup\24x7 Scheduler.lnk

: Run the setup on a test machine with /SAVEINF option to record the install

: You can then use the recorded log for silent installations on other
: computers. For more details and descriptions of other supported options
: please see "Silent install" topic in the on-line help or see
: "Installation and Uninstallation" chapter in the User's Guide.

Thanks for that, sorry but I negelected to mention I had already tried and failed through that method. Indeed, analysis of the saveinf files shows that it does not record whether or not the option to place a shortcut in the windows StartUp folder is selected.

I guess I was hoping for an undocumented command-line switch (I already tried the obvious ones, like /NOSTARTUP :-) )

Thanks

Here is what I did to get rid of the startup icon and install the service

247setup.exe /SAVEINF="247setup.log" /NOICONS /NORESTART /SERVICE "my_domain\my_user_name" "my_password"

Hope this helps.

: I will check that.
