Can't get the service to run jobs |
|
Hi,
I'm evaluating 24x7. When i run a job from the console it runs fine. When i start the Windows 2000 service it won't run a job.
Can i talk to a technician how to solve this problem?
Thanks,
Ton.

: Do you run an evaluation version?
Sorry, you already said that. The evaluation version can be run as a service only under LocalSystem account with an option to "Allow service to interact with the Desktop". That way you have a chance to click the Continue button on the Evaluation Reminder dialog and have 24x7 to continue loading. This dialog does not appear in the registered.
By the way, when you set 24x7 evaluation version to run as a service it shows Error Message indicating that it can only run under LocalSystem account.
To "Allow service to interact with the Desktop" use Services Applet in the Control Panel

So basically i cannot check if 24x7 can do the job that several others fail to do. Can you get me a temporary license key so i can check out the full product? Running it as a service in non-interactove mode is THE key issue with our scripts. Ton. : Sorry, you already said that. Yes, you can get such temp. license key. Please call (212) 747-0140 and ask for Jason Weiss, who can help you with this. Some comments: every service is a program that runs on an invisible Desktop. That's the only real difference between services and standalone programs. Of course, running something from the 24x7 service may not work exactly the same because of the system security issues, but that has nothing to do with the 24x7 service itself. If you have a problem with the service or some things don't run as you expect them to run, feel free to post your questions here and we will help you. : So basically i cannot check if 24x7 can do the job that several others fail : to do. : Can you get me a temporary license key so i can check out the full product? : Running it as a service in non-interactove mode is THE key issue with our : scripts. : Ton.
