Post Initial configuration of Remote Control Reply with quote

Greetings:

We're running 24X7 3.1.2 on a Windoze95 machine. It is configured as a Master Scheduler (I believe, not really sure how to tell). It's the only box running 24X7.

I'm trying to configure my desktop PC running Windoze98 to access the 'server' using Remote Control and to be blunt, the manual doesn't really help much.

I'd like to use TCP/IP so I assume WinSock for the protocol and use the default port of 10099.

Every time I try to create a new Remote Host, I get an error stating that the test connection failed and that the sever is not active.

HELP!!!

Thanks!

To run 24x7 in the master mode, in the Tools/Options (Network tab) enable "Distributed Server Mode" and restart the scheduler. Also make sure it is configured to listen on port 10099.

In the Tools/Security enable security and if required add your user add to the Administrators group.

Note when 24x7 is running in the master mode, it displays in the title bar "24x7 Scheduler (Master) - [name of the active job database file here]"

Also make sure you've installed 24x7 on the remote computer and on your computer using 2 different serial numbers.

Thanks!

To have different serial numbers, does this mean I have to buy additional licensing to use Remote Control?

Neil.....

Yes, you will need 2 licences. It should also work with the trial version.
