I am having problems setting up SMTP correctly. I am receiving the following error in the log-- Notification Action Failed: The mail server doesn't like the sender name, have you set your mail address correctly?

I am using Outlook to connect to an SMTP Internet mail server(Lotus Notes). I have it set to send just plain text messages. I have tried changing the SMTP sender address to all kinds of things, any ideas??

FYI - I was able to get MAPI working fine if the Outlook client was open but when it was closed the messages just queued up in the Outbox. This wasn't acceptable so I tried SMTP. I didn't try Notes because I saw messages that Notes will have similar problems.

1. To use SMTP, change HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\SoftTree Technologies, Inc.\24x7 Scheduler\3.0\SMTPSender value in the registry to your email address

2. To use MAPI, configure your MAPI client to send messages immediatelly and always keep connection opened (see Oulook Tools/Options menu for details).

I found this registry setting before but this is the same value as under tools\options\General\SMTP sender address. Just for the heck of it I updated it in the registry too but no luck. Anything else you could recommend?

Found the problem... For SMTP it must look at the Account setting on each job definition and not the main SMTP sender address. I had a bad account name entered for the scheduled job I was testing. Thanks!
