FR: Extend snippet triggering hotkeys |
|
Snippets can be triggered either by the selected key (combo), the last character of their name, or by using hotkeys Alt+0 through Alt+9. Besides using the context menu to find and choose the desired snippet, the Alt+Num is the only way to use snippets with the $CURRENT(selection)$. I've been past having only 10 of those for years, and I'm struggling with constantly switching in and out the 10 (currently) most used snippets. Could you extend the number of hotkey-triggered snippets by also allowing Alt+Shift+Number as a trigger key?

We've done a bit of research, Alt + Shift + number appear to be commonly used to cycle through different keyboard languages or settings on systems with multiple languages. Of course this could be made optional. Is there anything else that can be of use? Maybe a vertical toolbar or pane with most frequently used snippets that could support a much longer list and 1-click snippet activation? While not all-keyboard, it can add visibility and eleminate the need to remember all numbers.

Good idea. Also, if the Command Selector would include the names of the snippets, that could provide another, all-keyboard solution.
