Feature Requests |
|
I have a couple of feature requests you might find interesting/feasible for future versions.
- the "Fix Columns" feature is good, but its name is somewhat misleading. It fixes columns one by one. Even though I can have multiple columns selected, right-clicking on any of those will remove the selection and only the one I right-clicked on will be fixed. Also, the order of the fixed column will be their original order in the query, not the order they were set to fixed.
- enable shift+scroll wheel to scroll sideways. Currently, this only happens (even without having to hold shift) if the number of rows is less than what can be shown without scrolling up/down. In this case, the scroll wheel scrolls sideways.
- it would also be awesome if it were possible to
- rearrange the order of columns in result sets
- hide/show columns in result sets
- make those rearrangements/hidings persistent until canceled. By that I mean SA could remember the structure of the result set (column names could suffice, I guess), and any time it meets a result set with exactly the same column names and the same order of columns, it could apply the reordering and hiding of columns to that result set. SA could remember these settings like it remembers open file revisions or execution history.
- an option that would allow setting the Auto-filter "on" the default for every result set (including session monitoring) would be fantastic. Also, Auto-filter is a bit chaotic in Session Monitor. My experience is that it filters out all the rows existing in its previous result, but any new rows introduced after refreshing are not filtered out, eg. I filter on a session ID, and it only shows a row with that session ID, but after a refresh, if any new sessions are created (and still active) since the last refresh, those will be shown too.
- the search editbox in the Options window is the best tool for promptly finding options (AND snippets) when one has only a vague idea what that option (AND snippet) might be called. Alas, for some unknown reason (at least for snippets) the resulting list only allows clicking and jumping to the first match. The other matches are shown but cannot be clicked.
