[12.1.277 Pro] - copying result cell value |
|
There is this crafty little feature with which you can change the Display Format of the result set, eg. you can change the Thousands separator for a column displaying Integer Numbers. That helps tremendously when trying to estimate the order of larger numbers. However, it has an adverse side-effect when copying the cell's contents, because it changes the display format and the cell value too. Let's say, I set space or comma for the thousands separator. When I copy the contents/value of that cell from the result pane, I no longer get a nice and lengthy number on the clipboard, I also get the separator characters which sometimes makes the destination app/form/whatever unable to recognize that as a number. Is there a way to copy the raw data from the cell, or does that feature change that as well?

Here is the trick. Right-click the grid and select Save to Workspace Database. Then click File -> Open Workspace Database. You data is saved there in the original format.

That works. My only issue with that approach is that it is usually not much faster (íf at all) than changing the Display Format back-and-forth and it also clutters the Workspace Database. I use that feature extensively and like to keep it relatively clean.
