Different RDBMSs use different characters as delimiters and there's a minor inconsistency when selecting delimited words, either by double-clicking them or using Ctrl+Shift+Arrow keys.

MariaDB/MySQL uses ` as the delimiter. Trying to select a delimited word does not include the delimiters. SQL Server uses square bracket pairs as delimiters and selecting a delimited word includes the delimiters.

Check this short video here.

I'm sure this is not something that could be easily fixed in case the delimiters don't come in pairs, so I'm just dropping this here in case you ever run out of things to do.

I'm thinking this is unintentional. Square brackets aren't alphanumeric characters. If it selects them, there's got to be a special handling for that. That handlnig recognizes square brackets and double quotes as special cases, but not backtick symbols. I'm going to add an enhancement request for that. Maybe it's as easy as adding backtics to some collection.
