Port requirements -- RPC? |
|
Our security team wants to know why our server is listening on Port 111 (RPC). Is it required? Or is it something that just got started for something and never went away? Server is Red Hat Linux.

Is that related to 24x7?
24x7 Scheduler isn't using that port by default.

Interesting. No telling how it got added, then. The box is set up like an NFS server, but with no file systems exported. Just sitting there listening on Port 111 for a call that's never coming.
Appreciate the information!

RPC is not used by our products. You can try blocking that port in the firewall.
