[SA 9.0.166 Pro] - Matching Words Navigation |
|
There could be some improvement to this feature. The help says:
 |
 |
When you click an item within the code such as variable name, object name, column name, and so on, all
instances of the same item are highlighted in the code. You can move between highlighted items using any of
the following methods.
|
Right now when I select a word (or just simply move the caret into it) and press the corresponding hotkey, it does not jump to the next occurrence of the highlighted item, but to the next occurrence of the word (even as a fragment) that is selected (or has the caret). This can be good, but most of the times it isn't. For example, you select the word data and press Alt+Right Arrow. If there's a word database somewhere further down the lines, it will jump to that word, because it contains data as a fragment, and select it all. Having now database as a search criterion instead of data, any subsequent uses of the hotkey won't find any occurrences of data, since it will look for database instead.
It would be great if this could work in different ways, possibly by using editor option or a dropdown next to the buttons on the toolbar to select the preferred method.
With the order of importance probably being:
#1 jumping between selected words (fragments as well)
#2 jumping between selected words (whole words only)
#3 only jumping between highlighted item
#4 jumping between selected words (fragments as well) with expanding the selection
EDIT: By the way, the help pdf is still copy protected. Could you revert that, please? It makes quoting the help unnecessarily sluggish.

This is still an issue in 9.0.199. Is there any progress on it?

Thank you for following up on this issue. I'm going to enter a new ticket to find out if and when it's going to be addressed.
