FR: Name matching methods in popup |
|
The Name Matching Method works very well for tables/views/procedures and columns.
However, I noticed that when it's not the default method in use and the popup contains column matches, those are not filtered using the preferred method, SA falls back to Name Starts from Key String (both for foreign key columns and the ones based on name matches). Could you make this behavior consistent, please?
By the way, I still think that the results from a filter using Name Contains Characters from Key String should be sorted by the length of the names that match the requirements rather than alphabetically. Or by length first and alphabetically after, if it is required.

Length, then alpha. Those with a shorter length are a technically a closer match.

Not only a closer match but in case the full name of the object is part of other objects as well, and they have names lower in comparison it can get pretty cumbersome to select the object. I have a particularly annoying table that has a length of 5 characters and takes 25 keystrokes to select it, 5 for the name and 20 times down. Yes, I could use Page Down but since the popup is not always the same size, the number of keystrokes would be varying and it would require additional attention. Check it here.
