Post [SA 7.1.166 Pro] - SQL Editor query execution delay Reply with quote
I experience a rather irking delay when running certain queries in SQL Editor on MySQL. Check the video here. The time required for running the query (~6 s) shown in bottom right corner is in sharp contrast with the time required for completing the command (324.25 ms). I suspect it has something to do with refreshing the cache/code repository after running a query that contains DDL which is (I suppose) determined by analyzing the contents of the editor window instead of analyzing the query that was actually run. I put a "SELECT 1 AS w" statement in front of all the whole shebang and selected it. Running only that simple statement required the same amount of time (~6s).

If my suspicion is correct, could you please alter the process so that it only analyzes (in the background, if possible) only the code part that is processed and no everything else in the editor window as well? By the way, what exactly happens here? Manually refreshing the cache is almost instant (or at least it's done in the background) and updating the code repository takes much longer. Does it make a selective code repository update based on the analyzed code?

After watching the provided video several times I noticed the quick flashing or the status message "Caching results" before the code starts executing. I guess you are correct, it's trying to re-sync with the database catalog every time it's sensing CREATE and DROP operations in the editor regardless of what is actually being executed. I have logged this issue for further investigation
