How do you change the default auto-connect db?

Hi,

I've been using Sql Assistant with our production Oracle database for several years, and configured the connection at the beginning.

But I need to play with our Test database for a while, and can't seem to locate

1. How to turn off Auto-connect

2. When Auto-connect is on, how to set the default connection.

3. How to connect manually to the database, without being prompted in the middle of typing.

Arrgh. Even if I work directly with the popup connect, it won't take any of configurations.

It pops up a SqlDriverConnect error, for sqora32.dll; Specified driver could not be loaded due to system error 193. I confirm that the dll is actually there.

This is the only place where I have this problem. It doesn't happen in PlSql Developer, Sql Developer, or any of the other Oracle tools.

The auto-connect option can be found on in the Target settings. Open SQL Assistant options dialog, on the Targets page, select your editor. On the right side expand Advanced section. The Auto Connection option has a drop-down list, the first item is None. Please select that item, and click OK.

To connect manually, right-click in the Editor, choose SQL Assistant menu branch in the right-click menu (or use top-level menu), then select the Connect command.

That's what I did last week, but the Connect dialog wasn't popping up. This week, it shows up, as expected.

I guess when in doubt, reboot.

Unfortunately, it won't connect, using the current TNS name.

Ok, I'm in, and connected.

I did notice, in the connection dialog, that it was still defaulting to a Sql Server driver, even though I changed that last week.

Whatever. Everything seems to be fine now, please consider the thread resolved.

Sure. Thanks for your patience.

I think the bottom line, is to use Sql Assistant more often. I've had it for several years, and continue to renew, but bring it up only for special circumstances.

There's so much configurability in the package, it's almost insane NOT to try to use it more.

I mean, why keep switching back & forth between one's favorite text editor, and PlSql Developer & other tools, when it might be possible to do everything you need, inside the text editor alone?
