Enhancement Request - Database Explorer Dockable |
|
I would love to use your Database Explorer in SSMS instead of the built in Object Explorer. The problem is that it is only visible in the query editor window. It would be great if it could be a fully dockable window and serve as a true replacement.

A much more advanced version of DB Explorer will be available in version 7. We are expecting beta version in weeks. It's still going to be a window inside the editor, not a single control like Object Explorer shared by all editors. The main differentiation here is that each editor should have its own independent DB Explorer, which is driven by editor connection context. if you work with multiple servers and/or databases, you know what I mean. You are probably tired of endless scrolling of Object Explorer and expanding collapsing folders and items after switching between databases and servers. The new version will also support new unique features such as object to files associations, single click data import/export, and comparison, column scope dependencies, etc...
