Post Suggestion list does not change when changing database Reply with quote
I just switched from version 5.x to 6.x of SQL assistant.

Now, when I type and run "use xxxx", the context of suggestion does not change, I still get the suggestions of the old database.

If I have a table of the same name, I see the fields of the db1.table1 instead of db2.table1 like if I did not type "use xxxx".

I not just typed it, I ran it, and the "combobox" on the top of SQL management studio switched from db1 to dbxxxx.

I never got that trouble with SQL Assistant 5.X, what I am doing wrong?

I am in SQL Management Studio 2012.

Finally, I had troubles with my connection.

Now, I get the small yellow window telling me that the connection context changed when I type "use otherdatabase" But, it does not! The yellow window shows me the same database as before, and my suggestions are from the previous database.

How can SQL Assistant auto-switch context? I remember that I had to do something in version 5.x to do that but I don't remember what...

It sounds like SQL Assistant's addon for SQL Server Management Studio hasn't been registered.

It can be unregistered even if I see the sql assistant yellow popup telling me about my current "connection context"?

It seems that this connexion context is unable to change automatically from 1 database to the other...

I'll try to re-register it again, I did that yesterday with the close all - run as administrator, ... procedure.

It looks like the add-on is registered (yellow popup) but the commu8ncation between sqlassistant and management studio doesn't seems to work well (white error window)

Please start SSMS in Run as Administrator mode. That should resolve the issue.

The yellow balloon indicates that the addon doesn't load, and as a result, SQL Assistant resorts to hooking to the editor from outside, cannot access the connection and has to open its own connection (that's why you see that yellow balloon) and so it doesn't follow your SSMS connection context changes.
