SQL Assistant 6.1.35 conflict with VMWare Player 4.0.2 |
|
First, I run SQL Assistant version 6.1.35 .
Then, I run VMWare Player 4.0.2 .
Result, VMWare Player can't run .It still appears in list Process of Task Manager, but it doesn't work.
When i close SQL Assistant and run VMWare Player again, VMWare Player work.
I think may be SQL Assistant conflict with VMWare Player.

Thank you for your feedback. Does it work if you start VMWare Player first and then start SQL Assistant?

I'm not sure why the order in which you start them makes a difference, but glad that you at least have a workaround for for program conflict issue.

The cause is either not present in 6.2 early preview or the issue is machine specific. I occasionally run VMWare Player 4.0.2 (build 591240) but I haven't experienced any conflicts yet.

I have a similar issue with an application called ActiveBatch. Their GUI won't run when SQL Assist is running. Really a pain. Can I get a link to the early preview to test?

I don't think the new version will make a difference.
I'd like to suggest trying a different approach. Find out the name of the executable file for ActiveBatch (and child processes if any). Manually add a target for that executable file to SQL Assistant settings. Make the target disabled. Please check if it does the trick for you.

Tried that, but it didn't work.
Target EXE Name is set. Registered Target checkbox is unchecked. Target Title and Window Class is blank. Environment Integration is None.

Have the same problem with VMPlayer 4.0.1 and Sql Assistant 6.2.112. Windows XP Home Edition.
Cannot run VMPlayer after Sql Assistant, but can run VMPlayer before SQL Assistant.

Thank you for the feedback. We've got a planned research task for investigating the described conflicts and developing an application exclusions filter controlled by users via SQL Assistant settings.

We've got new SQL Assistant development build with new application filter feature allowing to exclude certain applications. Unfortunately we are unable to test all applications as we simply don't have them in our lab.
If you are an existing user and you interested in testing the latest build and ensuring it resolves issues with VMPlayer, ActiveBatch, and other applications running on your systems, please email to support(AT)softtreetech.com.
Thank you.

It's a bit off topic but have you ever thought about maintaining a mailing list of users willing to actively test new builds as soon as they are available?
