Disabling SA using the Shift-CTRL-F5 dialog in an editor does not fully work. On SA Options - Target tab the checkbox is unchecked but SA is still active. The actual instance of the editor retains a working SA until the editor is restarterde or re-enabled and disabled from SA Options - Target tab which makes SA sleep as expected.

Also, in Notepad and Wordpad the Shift-CTRL-F5 combo is somehow swallowed, it does not trigger the dialog (though I guess this could be something machine specific).

Shift+Ctrl+F5 hot key is not intended for enabling or disabling anything. This hotkey is for registering new targets and modifying options.

Please use "Suspend All" right-click menu for SQL Assistant systray icon, or right-click in the editor and select "suspend" command in the SQL Assistant part of the right-click menu.

Perhaps it is not. Still, the Advanced tab in the dialog window has the setting 'Enabled' and it can be changed. All the other option changes take effect immediately after clicking OK except this one, and even this one works in one way, that is, setting it to True, so I thought it was a bug. Even if it is not, why not have it work both ways?

On the other hand, suspending it from the right-click menu disables SA temporarily. Restarting the editor enables it again. Disabling/enabling it permanently without removing the editor completely could be a bit faster this way (provided the editor is active), rather than opening the main options window. It does not have a hotkey on its own and wouldn't fire anyway in case the editor is disabled, which in turn leaves you with Shift-CTRL-F5 as an option.

Thank you. That makes sense from a user's point of view. However, the Ctrl+Shift+F5 isn't designed for enabling or disabling SQL Assistant on the fly. Disabling/enabling/unloading/loading SQL Assistant in a running application, especially in case of plugins for SSMS, Eclipse, etc… is much complicated than changing some setting values in a disk file. Visual design of Ctrl+Shift+F5 dialog seems a bit confusing.

Well, that makes sense too. I frequently use Notepad++ for editing AHK scripts and config files and occasionally to test some queries on MySQL so it was a bit inconvenient to suspend SA through right-click menu every time or open main options window disable it since it was much easier to enable it with Shift-CTRL-F5. But you're right, I paid no attention that disabling plugins can be messy.

Never mind, I'll create a hotkey to suspend SA. Thanks for the explanation.

EDIT: alternatively, you could introduce a target settings that tells if SA should start suspended or not. Though having that would be quite a luxury :)
