clearLogOnStartup in preferences.xml - ignored !

24x7 Scheduler - MP ver 4.3.293 on Red Hat Linux 5.5

When starting the scheduler (/usr/local/24x7_Scheduler/master.sh nogui &), the preferences.xml option "clearLogOnStartup" is being ignored, and the log is being cleared :-(
