Lost Settings |
|
I just upgraded from v5.0.96 to v5.0.97 and lost all my snippets. Anyway to get them back? I spent a lot of time working on them.

That's weird. 5.0.97 doesn't overwrite previous settings unless you specifically tell it to load default settings from a default config file.
Please check if you have %APPDATA%\SQL Assistant\5.0\SQLAssist.old file or %APPDATA%\SQL Assistant\5.0\SQLAssist.bak. If you do, simply rename it to %APPDATA%\SQL Assistant\5.0\SQLAssist.sas

Do you have a copy of this file in 4.8 subfolder? If you do, you can import them from that file too, just use the merge option
You can also use the export function to save backups of your config files.

I have the settings that I used in 4.8. I just lost all my changes for the ones I converted to use some of the new features

I have had more than one of our developers have this same problem and they lost their settings. It seems like there is a problem with the upgrade.

We have reopened this case. Are they all upgrading from 5.0.96 to 5.0.97?

We've found out that in certain situations, when running SQL Assistant setup upgrading from previous version 5.x.x builds, if the setup program finds registry entries from 4.x.x versions, it incorrectly overwrites current SQL Assistant configuration file mistaking it for a beta version build and causing loss of custom settings in the current file. This bug in the setup program scripts was corrected today. The updated setup is available for download immediately.
All users who lost their custom configuration settings while upgrading to 5.0.97, are encourages to restore SQL Assistant settings file SQLAssist.sas from a recent backup, or that backup is not available, re-import them from configuration files for version 4.x
