Post User authentication failed error Reply with quote
Hi,

I'm running the scheduler on one server and an agent on another server. On the server that the agent is running, I have a Unix user account with noshell. I'm trying to run the remote jobs on this agent using the noshell user account and it failed. The error message says "User authentication failed".

So, can I run remote jobs using noshell accounts?

Thanks

What can you do with a noshell account? FTP only? something else?

It looks like a noshell account cannot do FTP. Is it the reason why the FTP authentication failed?

If we want to use FTP authentication, do we have to have an FTP deamon running on the default port, which is 21, on the server that we try to connect to?

Thanks

For FTP authentication method to work, you do need to run local FTP daemon on the standard port. In this mode, 24x7 uses FTP daemon for user/password authentication.

If you don't want to use FTP authentication, you can switch to PAM method – pluggable authentication. With PAM you can use any method supported by your system and if wanted install new PAM modules.

Hope this helps.
