[SA 9.1.261 Pro] - SQL Editor freezing |
|
When I start SQL Editor and selected tabs to restore include tabs that were connected to servers that are no longer accessible (it's shut down) SQL Editor stops responding. If I start the server the editor comes back.

Would you please check that these connections have a reasonable connection timeout value set. Maybe set them to 10 seconds?

Funny. Now that you mentioned that I've checked my connections and found out that there were two of them having their Connect Timeout set to 0 (I guess that's for indefinitely). I'm pretty sure I've never tinkered those. What could possibly change them?

Some connection related settings and enhancements have been added in every new major version since at least version 7. I wonder if some past upgrade added zeroes as default Connection timeout values. Zero values basically allows the middleware connection driver to decide how long to wait. The actual behavior may very by driver type (ADO, ODBC, etc...) and its version.

Thanks. I modified them to 10s and now the freeze is gone.
