Agent Local Connection Refused. |
|
Failed to execute. Remote Agent Job Refused.
Received this error from web on 3.6 application. I can login but cannot run a job. I have run jobs before with this security. I'm not sure, other than security, that can cause this to fail.

What do you see in the agent's log file? Does it say why it refused the connection?

It said the connection was refused. I don't have a remote agent other than going through the web console.

Web console is not a remote agent.
Quote: "It said the connection was refused" - that means that it tried to connect to an agent and that agent connection failed. Please find out in the job log which agent the job tried to connect to and make sure the agent is up and running.

It says the Local Agent is refused even though there is not a remote agent.

Please check the job properties. The job must be currently set to run remotely and that's why it is trying to connect to an agent. To have it run locally, make sure the Host/Agent job property is blank or set to value [local]

I do not have the job setup as remote nor do I have remote agent setup anywhere. We had two problems with our install. One is we had the wrong version of the web application and we are installing on a cluster.
When I was configuring the application, I was getting error messages everywhere and, for example, the job queues would disappear after initial setup. Now I have the right version of the web application and uninstalled and reinstalled the application software (intent was to clear out any bad registry entries). Then non-clustered test system is working just fine.
I've traced it down to what I think is the cause.
When you reboot the box with the 24x7 service on, the web app will not connect giving the "Local Agent refused" error message. If I start the box without the 24x7 service on, the application starts anyway. At this point, I can connect using the Web application, but my scripts won't run. The scripts give off error message "Local Agent refused".
I looked in the registry for "Run" which would explain the 24x7 job at startup. Nothing.
If I can turn off the automatic startup, maybe I can stop this "Local Agent refused" nonsense and move on to other things.

Please fix the job property value for the HOST/AGENT that is causing this error and the error will be gone.
