Upgrading Database from 3.4 to 4.2 |
|
Is there a way to update or import a job database from a version 3.4 scheduler to the latest version 4.2? The new version does not recognize the old dat files and will not open them. The only possible option I see is to do the import from a remote 24x7. But I'm not even sure that will work. Will the newer 24x7 attach to an older 24x7? We do not currently use any of the remote features of the scheduler. Before I go through the hassle of attempting this I figured I'd check to see if there are any other options.
Thanks

Are you looking for a way to load jobs from 24x7 Scheduler Windows Edition 3.4 to 24x7 Scheduler Multi-platform Edition 4.2? If yes, you need to have both of them started in graphical mode. You can then use Tools/Import Jobs From Remote Scheduler menu in the Multi-platform version to import jobs from the other scheduler version.

Yes. That is precisely what I am attempting to do. So far I'm not having a lot of luck getting the two schedulers to talk to each other. Do they need to be on the same server for this to work? I've tried checking the "Distributed Server Mode Enabled" option on the old 24x7 Scheduler Windows Edition 3.4. Is there some other option I am missing?
I've created an agent profile on the new Mutli-platform Edition 4.2 with the following invformation...
Agent name: old_server
Location: old_server
port: 1096
Agent Type: 24x7 Scheduler/Agent Windows Edition
The old scheduler was running as a service. I have not unconfigured the service, but I did stop the service and run the scheduler interactively. Every time I attempt to test the connection I get the error message "Connection to remote host 'old_server' failed." I have tried ignoring this error and running the job import anyways. This resulted in a never ending progress bar attempting to connect.
What am I missing?
Thanks for your response.

Nevermind... apparently my impatience was getting the better of me. I let the import wizard spin it's wheels for awhile and it finally connected.
Thanks for the help.
