Testing on Windows 7 |
|
Hi
I'm beginning to test SQL Assistant on Win7 RC
It seems it's not keep the connection to sql server.
Also it's not changing the database context, it remains on master.
Anyone it's testing on WIN7 RC and SQL Server 2008 SP1 ?

Which editor are you using, SSMS?
Please make sure the editor is loading SQL Assistant add-on and the add-on has been installed. If you close SQL Assistant system tray icon and start SSMS, it still should have SQL Assistant functioning an add-on loaded by SSMS internally . Only the add-on shares connections with the editor. The system tray application doesn't and cannot follow connection and db context switches. The symptoms you described sound just like this case – no add-on , only systray is running.
This could be also caused by SSMS not running in a proper security context (running in low privileged user mode) and not seeing add-on settings in the registry. Try starting SSMS in admin mode and check if that helps.

When and where do you get the expiry message?
Do you get this message when you start SQL Assistant (or add-on) in Run As Administrator mode?
I'm just guessing that you are running SSMS under low privileged user account or in low privileged mode and it loads SQL Assistant add-on in the same mode and that in turn cannot see the part of the registry where the key info is stored.

When I launch SSMS appears.
I'm running SSMS it as an administrator.
I'm not loading SQL Assistant on startup because I need it only for SSMS.
