Post SA Intelligence Is not intelligent enough! Reply with quote
I have observe few areas of improvements for SQL Assstance to show Intelligence in right context.

1) Does not show list of table columns when ALTER COLUMN command is typed? For example:
ALTER TABLE T_HR_EMP_MASTER ALTER COLUMN ??? (here in this context S.assistance should list all columns of a table being altered)

2) Same is true when creating index on table… try
CREATE NONCLUSTERED INDEX ON ??? (here in this context S.assistance should list names of all tables/views)

3) Same is true when creating index on table column… try
CREATE NONCLUSTERED INDEX ON EMP_MASTER ??? (here in this context S.assistance should list all columns of a table being indexed)

4) Same is true when creating table column… try
CREATE TABLE EMP
(
emp_code ??? (here in this context S.assistance should list all system defined data types)
)

5)Same is true when creating stored proc try…
CREATE PROCEDURE GetEmpName ( @EmpID ??? (here in this context S.assistance should list all system defined data types)
NOTE: It list all data types correctly when “(“ open bracket is not prefix before parameter.
But when open bracket is put, then S.assistance does not show data types

Thank you very much for your suggestions. Here is a quick comment for suggested improvements:

1) not currently supported. This is an area for improvement

2) and 3), you can use Ctrl+Space hot key to get the list of tables. BTW, this hot key can be used in other places too.

4) and 5) I believe this is already supported in 4.5 and 4.6 versions. Are you running an older one?

Thanks for quick reply...

Fyi, I am using SA ver 4.6.12 on SQL SERVER 2005 SP2. And I RE-CONFIRM that the above list of points are NOT working as expected in their given context. I have even tried out your suggestion but unfortunatly it did not work.

I would suggest you to analyse my points carefully and carry out a test so that you would know what i really mean. I have been using this tool for more than 2 yrs. and I am bit confident abt it. This is a great tool indeed but need lot of improvements.

Point # 4 and 5 is just not working out!

Thank you for your feedback.

We have reviewed this issue list again and found out that some of the features I described in the previous response, have regressed in most recent builds, and they don't always function as described. This change in behavior is a side effect caused by other functional changes. We are going to revisit them again in version 4.7.

That's really good! I will be looking forward for ver 4.7.
