Please help me understand what you are running. Which version of 24x7 are you running on the Linux side? on Windows side?
Also, in the connection profile in the Linux scheduler, do you have "Remote agent is 24x7 Scheduler/agent for Windows" option checked?
If you are getting an error message on the scheduler side, what does it say?

I am running the multi-platform edition version 4.1 build 255 on Redhat Linux AS 4.
On Windows I am running version 3.4.31
I set the option on the Windows version to be a Distributed Server Mode Enabled using WinSock and port 1096.
A netstat -a confirms that the port is in fact lisening.
On the Linux side I created a new agent and yes I did check the option that the agent is running on Windows.
I am not seeing any errors on the master side (linux).
Thanks.

When specifying Windows user for the agent connection, please don't forget to enter use name in Windows format domain\user
Also check what you get in the schedule.log on the agent side. I suspect your connection is being refused. Messages in the schedule.log may help to identify the cause.

I tried with my domain account as well as a local account on the remote agent that I am trying to connect to but it still will not let me connect.
I checked the log file on the agent side and I see no entries except when I started the agent.

Please stop the agent and delete master.log. Restart the agent in graphical mode. Try connecting from the scheduler. If the scheduler can reach the agent machine, you should see some tracing lines appearing in the trace window. If you get something in the trace window, please post the contents of master.log (from the agent system) If you don't get anything, please check your firewall settings and ensure that path from the scheduler to the agent system is open on the specified port.

OK here's the master.log file. It looks the same as what I posted in my first post.
I did replace my password with the xxxxx's btw for obvious reasons.

This one looks a lot cleaner. According to the log, the scheduler makes a connection and it clearly appears in the trace, then the agent refuses the connection with error code -2048. To the best of my knowledge that error is returned when there is some problem with a license, for example, an invalid or missing license key. This also could be also an issue with different versions, version v4.x against v3.x having incompatible license keys.

I just confirmed that v4.1 scheduler will not be able to connect to v3.4 agent because of their license incompatibility. You would need to deploy 4.1 or 4.0 agent MP Edition on a Windows system in order to have your Linux scheduler connect to and run tasks on that Windows system.

OK I did apply the license key for the windows version and it did accept it.
How can I clear up this situation?
Thanks for the help as always.

You already have it. You are running this software on the Linux box. You can run it on Windows too, just copy files over and use a different license key, or install them using the setup file.
In case if you need to swap your Windows version license to Multi-platform version (MP), please contact sales sales_@_softtreetech.com (no underscores) and explain what you need and what you got.

OK I installed the proper version of java and the scheduler multi-platform edtion on my windows box.
Now when I try to connnect I get an error on the master side and it freezes the scheduler I have to kill the pid and restart it.
In the terminal box I get the following error:
IOException while running socketReader: java.io.EOFException
java.io.EOFException
at java.io.DataInputStream.readInt(DataInputStream.java:448)
at com.sybase.dpb.AsyncSocketReader.run(AsyncSocketReader.java:41)

Did you uncheck "Remote agent is 24x7 Scheduler/agent for Windows" option in the remote agent connection properties?
PS. This option is to indicate type of the agent software, not type of the remote operation system.
